A diploma and a transcript serve different purposes. A foreign employer, university, or licensing body may ask for one or both, sometimes with its own evaluation or translation requirements. Confirm the exact document before requesting an apostille.
Start with the school registrar
For New York educational records, the state procedure calls for an institution official to certify that the document is an official record or a true copy. That official’s signature is notarized, followed by the appropriate County Clerk certification and state apostille.
Ask the school whether it prepares documents for international apostille use. A student’s personal statement about a photocopy is not the same as the school’s official certification. Do not alter a sealed transcript package without checking the recipient’s instructions.
For an institution in another state, the certification and apostille route depends on that state and the relevant signatures. Your present residence does not determine the correct office.
What an apostille does not establish
It does not evaluate academic credits, recognize a professional qualification, or guarantee admission, employment, or licensing. Those decisions belong to the receiving organization. If a credential evaluation is required, an apostille does not replace it.
Translation is also separate. I do not translate or certify academic equivalence. A translator’s affidavit concerns the translator’s statement, not official recognition of a degree.
Plan before sending originals
Share the issuing institution, country of use, requested documents, and deadline through Secure Document Upload. You obtain the school-issued records; I can coordinate the agreed apostille processing. Rush is conditional on readiness and an entirely Manhattan government route, not on when the school starts preparing the record.
